My boss is out of office today. Do you know what that means? Exactly – I get to take a longer lunch break (there is no way my boss ever reads this post, right?). And so I quickly chowed down my egg salad sandwich and headed to one of my favorite museums in the city – The Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT, NYC).
I heard of the “Fairy Tale Fashion” exhibition at FIT and I have been trying to get there since it opened in January. I especially wanted to see it because I thought it would be so appropriate to blog about it since the name of my blog is “Pixie Dust Formula” – some relation to magic and fairy tales, I’d say… So, I finally made it. As the booklet says, “this is a unique and imaginative exhibition that examines fairy tales through the lens of high fashion…it features more than 80 objects in dramatic, fantasy-like settings, including extraordinary 21st-century fashions by designers such as Alexander McQueen and Rodarte.”
If you are in New York and are into fashion, don’t miss an opportunity to see whatever it is they are exhibiting at the time. They hold free events and book signings, so, keep an eye on the Events Calendar. If you can’t make it to New York, follow FIT on social media.
The admission is free and they are open during the weekdays from 12pm to 8pm, and on Saturdays 10am to 5pm.
